Servo based EMC users

I have been doing some running of my gantry with a tech80
motion card, hard coding in c using dos.

I have come to the point where I must have g-code capability.

I waited a while to see how the BDI would evolve and in
particular for the PCI Servo-to go card, which seems to
still be a ways away.

I just finished reviewing the last year of the groups posts
from my local archive and it seems the BDI has been revised
a couple times. I have the original (from NAMES) and it works
fine in simulation. The only problem has been the floppy that
refuses to mount that was discussed.

So to my question - are any of you running an actual servo
based machine with BDI and STG II ?

The only ones I have seen running full servo (not Gecko or
stepper) are Jon (with 8 axis STG I and his parallel port
device) and Matt (with 4 axis STG I). I see quite a few
are running stepper versions often driving Geckos.

I am just trying to find out if the latest BDI with the STG II ISA
will actually run without being buggy or locking up. I have asked this
before and decided to wait a little while longer
but now it is time for me to write a p.o. for a control card.

The alternative is a commercial control. The old tech80
is obsolescent and I don't want to write any further code
for it.

I do not expect EMC to be perfectly rock solid but I do
hope it will work with big files MOST of the time. I understand
the current rt kernel is a little flawed.
