This is fine.

Since they are quite small, that would be OK, too. But, if a new version is
loaded, it might not update the copies, and then you could have a mismatch.

You could patch the install script (makefile) which actually specifies these
files, but that runs into the same problem as #2. The link seems to be a
good way to handle it.
