Wood,
A good UNIPolar 5V motor will spin twice per second. With
resistors and 10volts you can get 4 spins per second. I use
12volts with my 5volt motors along with some 8ohm 20watt resistors.
I get 12inches per minute. I set the machine at 10ipm to insure
no lost steps. Make sure you set your ramp up ramp down settings or
you will get lost steps at higher speeds. You will lose some torq
at the higher speeds. The 1/4-20 rod will give you all the torq
you should need as a hobbiest.
