The next to last paragraph on this page adds some detail as to why
the different motors and smaller power resistors were/are used...

IMO, add a fan to cool the resistors and don't worry about the
4/5 "wasted" power. 24v computer type fans are available, and
inexpensive. The reality is 6x25 vs. 6x10 watts, which is slightly
less than a 100watt light bulb... But do be careful, and aware of the
heat, which will ALSO be like that of a 100 watt bulb.
