Hi,

Thank you Paul, I did not know about this meaning of the L, I , L, O
letters. I will keep this in mind, - but I can't say that it
did catch the error. I check the boot.b ( I had the letters LI ) and
I reinstalled lilo several times, also with a backed up boot.b, that had
been working. Not anything had changed with the drives. I don't know
what gnome - linux configurator uses as parameters when it calls lilo, -
but at the moment the LI prompt don't quite make sense to me. But the
main reason for bringing up this subject, is that I had data I just
didn't want to loose, and to format and reinstall was not a good option.

Further, I suspect that with all the install problems we have had, many
times because we want to have the RT kernel installed, - not knowing
better, you try to wipe things clean and install again. A little more
knowledge about the process might save us a lot of fruitless stumbling.
As long as you can boot from a floppy and have everything working, then
this could oblivious be dealt with in a better way. I passed the
information I had, in the hope that someone had something clever to say
about it, an the other reason was to point out that here is something we
really should try to learn more about.

So, if anyone have some insight to this, - join in - and help us manage
out systems better.
