Rick,

The voltage will be 1.41 times 48V or 67VDC. The drive will never
draw more than 2/3 times 3.3A or 2.2A from the supply. Use the
following for calculating the capacitor size:

(uF) = (80,000 times I) / V

In your case 80,000 * 2.2 / 67 = 2,627 or 2,700 uF per 2.2A load.

transformer I'm using has dual secondary coils and can be configured
for 48V @ 4A or 24V @ 8A. I was planning on using the 48V
configuration to use with a 3.3A stepper motor, but I've seen on the
Gecko site that this will actaully translate into 67VDC after
connecting a bridge rectifier & capacitor. My question is, will that
be 67VDC @ 4A? Or would that turn into 67VDC @ 2.8A, so as to
conserve the 192 Watt rating?

will be from the 110VAC side... if the transformer can supply 192
Watts, then how much current would it be safe to assume it will draw
from the AC? I'm planning on using four of these (one for each axis),
so I'm concerned about having a cord & switch rated high enough. I'm
assuming the transformers aren't 100% efficient, so how much higher
than the rated power should I go to be safe?
