My .02c worth?... Comparing the bench to the bike (as suggested) and Lisa, I
think you might find things a little high to work on (unless your a
basketball player)... the spindle height should be around (or just above)
elbow height for comfortable working... I'm 6'3" and shoot for a comfortable
spindle height of 4' or just under... If you can't comfortably work the
machine, it rapidly takes the fun out of it...
And it is all about the fun, right :)

You'll have lots of fun over the next few months... First up, I would
strongly suggest you add some diagonal cross braces between the legs of
your bench. Currently you have only minimal lateral support - i.e. if
you lock the bench wheels and push on the machine from one end, the
table could collapse, possibly squashing the family cat or worse...
You might also add a lower shelf at the same time - to store all the
tooling you will accumulate.
