Hi Alan,
I ran the multi meter across the leads before setting up the unit and
tested the stepper on the bench before putting on the machine.
all seemed fine.
I know the stepper works without a load, and it is a
6 wire unipolar stepper and I did confirm that from the
manufacturers PDF files.
I did not calculate the L/R resistors to limit the current as I
ASSumed it would work well with what I thought was a light load.
and this being my first time implementing a stepper, I'm not sure of
all the necessary steps to take to make sure I didn't make any
mistakes. Guess I need to go back and read more tutorials on how to
use steppers.

( I voted YES to both poll questiosn, if it has to do with metal
working then I want to know about it.)
