Hi, well I think it is a good question. a drill is a center cutting device,
and most 2 flute mills will be center cutting, now if there is a center
hole(for tool grinding) in the center instead of the lips of the cutting
edge it will not cut in the center, if you drop this into a hole already
made it will open up the hole. another example is a 3 or 5 flute mill, there
is no adjacent cutting edges, so no center cutting, however a clever tool
grinder can get around this to an extent by extending one cutting lip beyond
the center of the tool sometimes. cul brian f.
