Threaded Rod WORKS!

For the beginner only
Hi,
I have used threaded rod now for over six months. The trick is to
use a block of plastic for a drive nut. Lately I have been using
Delrin. I got this idea from John at www.kleinbauer.com/ I went over
there yesterday to look at the 7th Sojourn. He uses cheap threaded
rod on all his designs. I asked him about the wear. He said he cycles
all his designs several thousand times. Then he measures the machine
for overal accuracy. He said you have to use the machine everyday
for several months before the rod needs to be replace. I have cut
several dozen circuit boards on my machine and my threaded rod is
fine. For a first machine threaded rod works great. Just don't use a
brass nut on it like the experts suggest. Plastic works best.
Select only a good piece of threaded rod. Leave the rusted ones
at the store. If you use threaded rod on your machine, don't be shy
tell them how it works! Accuracy, everybody talks about accuracy. What
is everybody using their machine for. I never see any project being
descussed here anymore.
