hi, talked to Carl Kendrat at Deskcam, closing g81 with g80 and i quote Carl;
"Desknc Dos g80 does not reset to the r height. You must do it manually in your g0 command line"
Another words, if you use g81 and close with g80, make sure you reset "z" back to the "r" value or to another value, if you do not the "z" axis will be left at "z"value set in g81.
