Re: Plasma Voltage Servo

Hi

I have just completed a plasma table for a friend and am looking for
a solution for the torch height control. Right now we just have the
torch floating vertically with transfer balls riding on the metal. I
have a question about this circuit. What happens when the voltage
spikes up to say 300v. The lincoln plasma we use says that the arc
voltage gets up this high. When you cross a cut in the steel the
voltage will spike. Is it possible to have the circuit ignore
voltages over a certain level? Then the torch wouldn't dive into the
plate. I have been giving some thought to using a basic stamp
computer to handle the torch height control, but if it could be done
with a simple circuit all the better.
