Hi Karl
Sorry for hopping in to this discussion a bit late but I don't read
this group regularly enough.
To review the setup:
* Gear hobbing cutter (looks like spiral noodles) in the mill spindle
* Mill column rotated slightly per the hob helix
* Gear being cut on a vertical rotary table
* Frog ( http://www.emachineshop.com ) running rotary table
* Frog sensor on mill spindle
Seems to me it should work. The threading mode of the Frog would sync
to the spindle. I would think the Power Frog should give plenty of
umphf especially considering that a rotary table is wormed. You might
need an extra sense magnet or two on the spindle to increase
resolution but try one first. You would also need a small change to
the Frog software to allow continuous cutting but I can do that if
you decide to order a Frog.
Regards, Jim
