another thought: i seem to remember hearing that there was a limit of 8
par-ports on a computer,
thought the limit of serial ports was 256... i've seen pci cards with cables
comming out the back instead of ports (for serial) i think you could
probably get a card from somewhere that had 8 ports on cables...? try a
nice long 'google' search!---Dave L.

It seems you could get more parallel ports from one PCI slot, but
physically there isn't enough room on the face of the card for more than 2.
If you got a dual parallel PCI card plus the slot you already have you'd
have 3. Some PC cases have openings in the back for more than one parallel
port. You need to get the type that has a bit of ribbon that connects to
the motherboard and attach that to the back of the case to get 2 in the
case and 2 on a card for 4 total. Leaving one for your printer and 3 for
the CNC.
