Rorary 4th axis et al..

Hi all..
Recently there has been some discussion on rotary 4th axes and the
mounting of chucks there upon. In that vien,
I have posted a few pics of my own incarnation of a 4th axis. I built
this around the common Phase II 10 inch rotary
table which started life on my manual mill. The encoder shown is from
US Digital and is a 1000 line unit giving a final
resolution of .001 degree which, happily, is what my control requires...
The last pic in the group shows my high speed
spindle. For power, it uses a Dumore high speed grinder motor driven
with a variable voltage DC controller. It is
designed to clamp right on the spindle nose of the Bridgeport and the
cutter is directly on the Z axis when in place.
