Interesting; I have a better idea of what goes on there now. My question
though, still has to do with just where does one find machine parts, such that
one can put a machine together without having to re-engineer the whole world.
I'm minded of the old Johnny Cash song about the auto worker who stole a part
a day until he could build a whole brand new car, (That looked like an entire
auto wrecking yard). :-)
Anyhow, The idea here, is to find what things are available that can be cobbled
together from available parts replacement/surplus bins etc. For instance, if
one could find a good spindle, motor, and the head that holds them all together,
one could bolt it onto a z axis mechanism, and not have to create it all from
scratch. I guess what I'm looking for here, is the machinists equivalent to
the local auto wrecking yard. That would be the Tacoma/Seattle/Bellevue/
Everret area for me, but web based companies from elsewhere might do as well.
