Tony, Here is the combination I slammed together and works pretty well in a
non contact situation (plasma).

80oz motors with a 14 tooth pulley, that drives a 48 tooth pulley on a shaft
that also has a 16 tooth pinion.

Backlash, in regards anything you'd ever see on a cut Part is nothing to be
concerned about. Maximum speed is around 400 ipm.

I was suprised I could go that high with such small motors. !20oz or 160oz
would be my target but I did not have any at the time. The linear components
consist of nothing more than Cold rolled with cam followers. For plasma......
I don't think one needs much more than that. I've been quite suprised how
well it works out.
