Hi,
(1) A full step drive needs 200 pulses to turn 1 rev. A 10 uStep
drive needs 2000. A full step drive needs 4,000 step pulses per
second to turn a motor at 1,200 RPM, while the 10 uStep drive needs
40,000 for the same speed. Many cannot come up with the higher step
pulse frequency.
(2) A full step drive motor will vibrate very bably at low speeds. A
microstep driven motor will not vibrate at all.
(3) The multiplier board permits (1) while having (2) as well. It
does this by generating 10 step pulses for every step pulse it
receives. It then sends those pulses on to the 10 uStep drive it is
sitting in. The result is a motor that moves with microstep
smoothness while the drive appears as a full step one to the software.
It's a "have your cake and eat it too" situation.
