It's easy to do both, convert it to vertical while maintaining the
horizontal capability.
Simply attach a suitable vertical head to the overarm. Really quite common.
Bridgeport J heads are the usual choice .. for smaller machines, I think an
M head is called for. ( Or is it the other way 'round )
I have a Burke, an even smaller HMill than what's in question here. I
also rounded up an older Rusnok vertical head. Just last night, I FINALLY
got a chance to USE the Rusnok on the little Burke ( as opposed to just
playing with it ).
Worked REALLY well .. so well that I now HAVE to CNC it. Previously, I
was only thinking about adding variable speed drive to the X axis, but
now it's GOT to be CNC'd.
