Hi,
I am still here :) I have tried to help Ian a bit with
networking, and here is a question to you:
He has Windows and Linux running, and wonder how to hook up the
modem. ( I never use Windows anymore, so I am a bit unsure )
But, he will use it, - so how have you other guys done this ? It
should be possible to keep the modem on a windows box, and call it
over the network. On a Linux box, I would use samba and run a few
scripts, - I think. It is kind of opposite of my situation, as I
have the modem on a Linux box. Any help ?
Here is another subject :
He thought that he should wipe out everything on the Linux box,
when upgrading to a new kernel and EMC release. Is there any
thing in the basic file system, that is changed. Isn't it
possible to just copy the kernel, compile it, and install it,
without wiping everything clean ?
