Hello All. Another Newbie here. I'm still scrounging parts for my
first project a CNC Router using stepper motors.

A friend did lap both his HS and CPU with no ill effects, of course
he was Very careful not to bend the pins and took grounding
precautions.

Some Silver HS Compound is conductive so make sure if your drive
transistors or ICs need isolation before using and take appropriate
steps if they do. Do Not get any on the pins or across the edges of
insulators (if they are required).

And as always when using HS Compound Use Very Little, I like to
spread it thin with a new single edged razor blade drug across the
surface at about a 45 degree angle. Since were using power tools on
this list i'll assume theres no need for a safety warning about doing
this.

As for Marriss' (sp?) comment about using a CPU HS and fan I've
already bought 5 of them for my controller (not a Gecko i'm sorry to
say, bought it before i found about them) because of their high
wattage of heat dissipation. 3 will go on the SLA7026M driver ICs,
one for the two regulator ICs (LM7812 and LM7805) and of course a
spare. I will be using the 7026s at their max 3a capicity and prefer
a bit of overkill when it comes to cooling Power ICs, Transistors...

Still reading and learning.
Great List!
