Carken at www.deskam.com is making availble a feeware engraver program that
will read True type font and generate the G code . Look under downloads

Here is what it says in the Help file.

DeskEngrave is a basic True Type Font to Vector converter that is released
as Freeware. Use with our compliments. For other products relating to the
CNC industry visit www.deskam.com. DeskEngrave will save files in standard
G-Code format or AutoCAD R12 DXF file format. It is as easy as entering
text and pressing the 'Enter' key.

It lets you set the size , the depth and other paramenter.
Best of all it is free.
