This message is intended to assist those
who are looking for a place to persue
"general machining" questions or other
topics that are discouraged in this group.
This group was created to focus on a
special set of interests as in stated
in the group name and description. Some
people who find this group may not have
any experience outside this group and may
naturally want to explore machining in
general through discussion in this group.
While there is plenty of knowledge to be
found here, expansion of our discussions
to cover general machining topics would
dilute the purpose of the group and also
generate more traffic than some of us
have the time to read.
Numerous places exist on the Internet to
find discussions related to machining. There
are many groups similar to this which focus
on different types of metalworking/machining
activities and specific types or brands of
equipment. A list of many of these can be
found at:
http://www.metalworking.com/listservers.html
In addition to the above web based forums,
there is the granddaddy of them all, the
rec.crafts.metalworking newsgroup on the
USENET portion of the Internet. For more
information about participation there, see:
http://www.metalworking.com/news_servers.html
And lastly, there is the Yahoo group that grew
out of CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO specifically to address
the needs of those who want to discuss more
production oriented or commercial activities.
This group is at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jobshophomeshop/
I look forward to seeing many of you in these
other Internet forums.
