Gecko logic power

Hi All -

I've got a separate 5V supply in my controller box that I will use
for the 5VDC to the Geckos. What about the ground? Do the
Gecko's "Power Grounds" and the 5V supply grounds have to be
connected for the Geckos to work properly? If not, what is the
return path?
