Peter, look in your Jameco catalog for a DC-5V to DC-5V converter.
They are about two inches square by 0.5 inch high and cost $5.95 each. You
can feed them from the computer's +5V. I used two of these to make a
differential supply about three years ago and was pleased. Might need a
small cap on the output for filtering - that's about it.

I think I am going to move everything into the NEMA 12 enclosure I
bought for the servo system. The layout of the Driverack is poor to begin
with and I really don't want a 19 inch rack mount cabinet anyway. No point
going through all the trouble you had. I can buy a new enclosure and start
from scratch when I rebuild the servo system. The existing enclosure can be
moved as a unit over to the router. It has a monitor/keyboard mounted on a
boom and will transfer nicely.
