I suspect that unless a person has IE 5 with all the ActiveX controls
and Microsoft Java ( as opposed to the REAL Java ) installed, they won't
be able to read Hans' page with any version of Netscape.
That is, to read the page, Netscape will need the IE5 "features" that
allow
1. coolness
2. almost any hacker anywhere complete and total access to your
computer.
Simply reading a page with IE5 can allow a malicious web site operator
to easily gain access to your machine. It's not that I have my credit
card numbers or passwords
Microsoft has published about 70 to 80 security related patches and
fixes for IE5 ! ( They EMail me 3 - 5 announcements a week ) These are
just the ones they admit to and have fixed, the complete list of security
problems is much longer. Some of these holes are very scary indeed.
It's a shame that all that hard work Hans put in is available to so few,
and requires the installation of software that no one in their right
mind would ever install.
