I am in the process of researching retrofit control packages for my machine. I have found many stepper conrols, but very few servo controllers. My machine uses standard servo amps with +/-10v industry standard inputs. I would prefer to use software control, in either UNIX or DOS platforms. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a good case for EMC. See the NIST site at :
http://www.isd.mel.nist.gov/projects/emc/emc.html

Also, see my system using EMC at :
http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~jmelson/CNCconv.html
and
http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~jmelson/EMC.html

Ignore the Allen-Bradley stuff, that was my old controller. EMC is free for downloading from NIST,
Linux is essentially free, but if you don't have a fast network connection, buying the CD ROM and
book is about $35 at most, so the only real cost is the servo-to-go interface card, at $888 for the
8-channel one. It should interface perfectly to +/- 10V amps, and any TTL-compatible encoders.
