Peter,
I have my card running at True Color - that's not the issue at this
point. I tried multiple things.
I guess I'm just a little disappointed in the customer service - the
product itself is awesome - very feature filled and when it works right
great graphic quality.
Cheers,
-Chris

Chris,
Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience with Mecsoft. As I'm based in
Toronto, I deal mostly with a local rep so haven't noticed bad support.
I have noticed support is a little slow, sometimes. Your experience
is very bad if it on the sales side - usually sales is done reasonably
well and tech support is where many companies come undone.
FYI, I get good graphics performance in VM and I'm running a 3D Labs VX1
card with 32Mb - I think yours is higher performance than mine. No
offence Chris, but are you sure you're running your card in Open GL
mode, True Color(32 bit colour)? Of course it depends on how complex
your solid model is. How are you creating your solid - prior to
importing it into VM? (I use the Parasolid engine and X_T version 11
file format)
What slows down is tool path computation - I just created a tool path
with 32,000 (31,989 actually) goto's and timed it at 68 seconds on a
P3-733 with 512MB of RAM. Parsing the tool path to my post processor
took another 8 seconds or so. How do these times that compare to other
systems, anyone?
Bottom line - everyone has to be sure a given product meets their needs
- at least you are entitled to a full refund Chris, so the main cost is
just your time. Hopefully you will be better informed and have better
luck when you evaluate the next package.
Regards Peter
