the debut of National Instruments' 16-bit DAQPad for portable PCs. "NI's
FireWire-connected low-profile data-acquisition package fits under a
notebook PC, letting you speedily connect sensors as well as generate
analog outputs," notes ChipCenter Senior Technical Editor Alex Mendelsohn.
Also hot on FireWire, Senior Technical Editor Lee Goldberg lauds a new
telematics chip from Texas Instruments. "This Bluetooth and FireWire combo
can easily pass time-sensitive multi-media traffic between user devices,
or through the guts of a car's own processing system," says Goldberg.
