Hi Kevin
If the control is not based on a Windows or Linux box I might agree - But a
majority of us have a PC based control, and I for one would not want to fsck
or scandisk each time there was an power outage.
With a power outage, there is allways a risk of corrupting the file system,
although with ext3 or reiser the risk is much lower.
The risk is very much dependent on the quality of your supply - My supply
rarely glitches, but a friend less than 20 miles away regularly looses power
when swans hit the power lines.
If the price is right, go for a UPS on any piece of computer equipment, CNC
or not.
Regards, Paul.
