Microwave them. Turn out the lights, and if you can easily remove the
bulb in the microwave, do so. Nice little light show. There's a web site
somewhere that covers this in detail, along with other home-science-lab
activities such as experiments in the ignition temp of Pop-Tarts. (yes,
they will sustain combustion!)
