Hi Russ,

do you know the series of the stepper ? PV PK ?
NEMA size (body diameter) ? how many wires ? 6 = uni-polar
length of body (stacks)

I think the number you refer to is the serial number and has more to
do with lot and date of manufacture. The series will give you much
more details of the specs of the unit.

here is a .pdf of the PV series.
http://www.orientalmotor.com/automated/product/files/44.pdf
you'll find they don't offer too much useful data.

The series should be on the name plate, most likely printed in the
label, not typed in as the serial number would be.

round or squareish body ?

And if you want to go straight to the source, Oriental Motors does
respond to e-mails and phone calls. even if your unit is older.

I guess the obvious question is what information are you looking for ?
with the data you have, you can power it on your systems.
design a power supply and do work.

More recent Vexta units have the step angle listed, so you should
know the steps per rev.

As to what it can be used for... well, that is another story !
robotics, printers, CNC of most any type of thing you can imagine!
NEMA23 (2.3 In dia body) to drive a 4 ft x 8 ft plasma cutter or in
my case, a couple drill presses and a 10 ft long table.

IF you want to figure HOW to power it, this list is a wealth of
information ! if you want to cheat, search on the phrase 'marriss'
and start by reading those posts.

stepper motors, it's been a big help, but still, for some reason, can
not find any info on the Vexta # C518-9212. other than it is a 4
volt, 1.1 amp double shaft stepper, but no info on holding
torque .....or want they can be used for. So if anyone knows
anything on this series of stepper, please direct me!
