It's almost Denford time!

Hey guys!
I recieved some excellent news today. A week this Friday I get my
Denford Orac for £50. I mentioned this a while back and Andrew said he'd
like the front panel if I get rid of it. I'm wondering if it's worth me
upgrading this machine to a plug it into your computer tool? I've never used
a manual G-code interface before and the tape drive on the machine has taken
a serious beating over the years. Although I'm willing to buy something like
Dan's board to control the machine with is there any need? I plan to spend
my reserve of cash on other things. Surely lathe work can't be that hard to
input yourself for simple bits. On the off chance, does anyone know if these
machines used steppers or servos, and if so, about what torque rating they
are?
Thanks all,
John Heritage
