Three main factors I can think of.
1 - The pulse rate the computer/software is capable of. Some packages
take
more resources.
2 - The acceleration setting and how it is implemented in the
software.
3 - The evenness of the pulse train.

Thanks Tim. I suppose that answer quite a bit of my questions. Can we
try to exhaust that list?

3. evenness of pulse train (what determine its evenness?)

Also, how wounld one go about optimising the acceleration setting?
