RS232C, What am I looking for?

Hello,

I have the pinout for my lathes controller board; they are pretty detailed. I was told that to make a suitable RS232C to serial connection (So I can plug it into my PC) I need to find the correct pins etc. What should I look for on these pinouts to tell me which pins I need to connect to what?
