Hi,
I have just look at some old 8 mm home movies, - and they are
terrible :( Well, film was expensive, so they took some shots
here and there. Later on it was clipped together - often totally
out of order. It would have been great if it could be transferred
to Video tape, - but that is also soon out of date.
Is there anyone who knows if it is possible to transfer this to
some data format ? Do the clipping and maybe burn a CD ?
Or DVD ?
I have no clue what it would take. Is there any apparatus that
would do such a thing ?
Or - could it be made ?
I have a web cam laying around someplace. But I would imagine that
it would be difficult to synchronize the images. So, what if you
took a step motor, and made a rig. Used some opto sensors, and
moved one frame at the time. Take some snapshots, and repeated
the process. The opto sensors would be able to detect the frames.
Or you had to have a very fine calculation of steps, that would
even out. I guess these cameras is light sensitive enough. You
should not need a very "hot" light source. But the control program
for this rig, could be difficult. I don't know.
Anybody have any comments on this ?
If you get it stored on data, how should one process it ? Is
there any programs for such things ?
To recap:
1. Is there any ready made equipment for this ?
2. Comments on a home construction ?
3. Comments on the control system needed.
4. Is there any "studio/clipping" programs ?
5. How much can you store on a CD ?
6. Other ideas ?
