Not shure if I got it right, 3 RPM? unless you have a gearing of 100
to 1 you won't get to the end of travel till next day.
If you speed up the motor thru gearing you'll be cutting the motor
power by half.
the torque needed is related to friction,speed,weigh, and so on...
I'm building a gantry about 600mm X 500mm x 150mm using 10mm pitch
ballscrews, and 200oz/in motors and I'm getting about 5000mm/min max.
it's on direct drive no gearing.
motors run about 500 rpm max using camtronic's controller and
deskncwin and a celeron 400.
just tested today at this speed.
