Spend the bux if you like, but all you need is a seperate 3-phase motor.
It's wired to source on each end of one coil and to machine motor in
parallel, coil to coil, thru the machine switch. Seperate motor must be
switched on, given a kick to start it rolling, then machine may be switched
on. I use 1 Hp for the converter motor, run a 3 Hp mill with it. The
starting is eased by using a pully on converter motor, to kick at. Works
like a charm, but very occasionally while reversing spindle at higher
speeds, the converter motor will wind down and reverse instead. All this
does of course is reverse your switch positions on machine itself. I paid
$30 for this unit.
