Am I correct in understanding that you've purchased one of these mill
retrofit kits? If so, the spec on the motors is 144 oz-in. Sherline's motors
are specified to deliver 100 oz-in, so I don't think that motor size is your
problem.
Plus, I doubt that even the unipolar drivers would limit you to so slow a
speed. These kits aren't exactly cheap, so I would expect that better
performnce than you mentioned should be obtainable.
I don't know anything about MyTMill for Windows, but I'd be suspicious of
any Windows based software for CNC. Even with a DOS computer, you've got to
be careful with EMM386 and HIMEM.SYS hogging too much processor if your
processor runs slow enough. (I had problems running TurboCNC under DOS on my
Zenith Notebook - 486DX2-50 - until I removed a few lines from CONFIG.SYS)
Which brings up the question - What are the specs on the computer and
software that you're using? Does the software generate step/direction pulses
or phase signals for the motors?
|Understood. I didn't want to go online and blast a hardware/software
|manufacturer when perhaps it was a configuration issue. The is the kit
|Acumotion sells. http://www.acumotion.com
|I have been doing some research and believe I have alot of the answers to
|the software issues. Now I just need possibly better/stronger
|steppers.
