Hi,

The pricing below takes this out of the experimenters/have a go category.

If a stamp was necessary, and I believe it would be too slow, one way around
the problem may be to take some load off it by using some ancillary chips.
e.g.. feed the encoder output into an LS7084 and have this sort the
direction and count signals, into 4516 then into a stamp just to do the
calculation and output to an LCD display. Total cost about $30. I would
prefer a PIC based system as they have more than enough speed to cope with
all of the process.

| Analog Devices has a resolver to digital chip set that might be
interesting.
| It outputs position in digital format plus quadrature encoder signals. One
| chip provides the reference signal, the other one channel of data. The
| reference signal could drive multiple resolvers. Last time I looked IIRC
| three chips totaled around $125 US.
