The BS2 would be too slow.

The PIC could be run with Assm and at
4Mhz, 10Mhz or 20Mhz.

prices increase with speed, but the board
oscilator power supply and all still come out
less than a BS2 and are much faster.

Check out the Atmel chips as well.
