There are "HOWTO" and "mini-HOWTO" files on the full CD set.
I don't know how much of this had to be cut out on the BDI disks, but
the full (usually 3 CD) installation sets for Linux usually have these
so that they can be installed as an option. Under Red Hat, it is the
package manager, in Mandrake it is the Software Manager. Just search
for HOWTO and select the English ones, and the HTML files, if they
are separate. There are several documents on using modems in different
environments (serial terminal emulation, SLIP, PPP, etc.)
