Dear Sir:
Synchronization of master and slave motors is a bit of a job. We
used to sync master and slave of gantry machines up to 16 feet wide.
The circuit I used consisted of master and slave analog resolvers
which were excited by a 1000~ square wave and demodulated to make a
linear correction voltage up to +/- 10 VDC which was added to the
speed command for the slave motor. Accuracy was quite good for that
size machine (+/- .003"). The whole setup prob cost $300-600. A
mechanical link would be a lot simpler if it is possible.
