Ron,

I agree with everything that you have said. I sell large cnc routers for
Machine Automation (www.multicam.com) and most of them use stepper motors
and do not loose steps. The larger machines (Pro Series) have a lot of
weight on the gantry and require servos just because of the amount of mass
that they want to move and to do it quickly.
