No. Definitely not. First, let me describe one real confusion factor that
IS an industry problem. There is no ONE accepted way of describing
resolution. Most companies have a description that is some form of cycles/revolution.
Such a value would be multiplied by 4 to give the full number of quadrature counts
available. So, a 1000 cycle/rev encoder would give 4000 counts/rev to an
encoder counter that counts all transitions.

Yes, a 1000 line encoder would have EXACTLY 1000 lines, giving 4000 counts
in quadrature.

A 1024 line encoder would have a different part number, and would give 4096
counts in quadrature.
