Hi, Andrew:
I missed the DeskNC/Win mentioned in item #2, sorry. Your CONFIG.SYS does
not load either the EMM386.EXE nor HIMEM.SYS drivers, so if you decide to
use a DOS G-Code controller (such as CNCPro, TurboCNC, etc.) you should have
no problems with memory management overhead. I noticed that you've loaded a
RAM-Drive (makes part of your memory space look as if it were a fast hard
disk drive). I'm not sure if that device has any overhead, so you may wish
to comment that part out.
To do so, use ATTRIB config.sys -r <EnterKey> to set the file to Read/Write
and then edit the config.sys file. Place a semicolon (;) before the lines
that are: devicehigh=ramdrive.sys /E 2048 and try again.
Since youi're using a hardware assist pulse generator, I doubt that the
computer is part of your problem. If you have an oscilloscope, you may want
to check the "step" pulses that go to yout Gecko driver and assure that
there are no huge gaps in the pulse train (an example of a "huge gap" is a
train of pulses that are 500 microseconds apart - 2 khz - that sometimes has
a gap of 19.2 milliseconds from one pulse to another. A gap like this will
really limit the max speed at which you can run)
