Where can I get supplies to work with my 20 amp motors?

How much power saving do you think I can have by changing power supplies?

I am confused on how to pick a power supply. The motors are rated at less than 2 volts, but are 12.7 amp and the larger ones are rated at 20 amps. I think the Ah-ha supplies are 48 volt. Can I send 48 volt to a motor rated at 2 volts?

I have done a search for power supplies, but I don't understand just what I should be looking for.

Can some one please explain what I should be looking for?

I imagine the power supplies would require slow
drying to use them, if one wanted too. I would think
that you may be able to pick-up surplus switching
power supplies, cheaper and less power consumption
Maybe some of the other fellows have a few ideas on
that matter. The micro-stepping drives add smothness
and finer positioning, but they do not position as reliably
as full step drivers, because stepping between the true
cogs of the motor. Thier torgue drops of at high speeds
also and they require a higher step rate from the processor,
so you need a faster computer. There are numerous companys
that sell stepper and servo systems, and they usually have
good comparison tables on that matter.

Sorry it took me so long to get any information on the power supplies for
my motors.
I had to dig the control box out of a snow bank. Yes it was full of snow.
It is not too weathered looking inside, but has been outside for a few
months.

Any way this is what I have. It would be nice if I could salvage any of
this stuff. I plan to run this thing with the EMC control software.

It looks like I have what may have been a boss control?

The X and Y axis have 1100 oz.in. motors by SLO-SYN (type M113F J40C2)
which are driven by SLO-SYN Motor Drives # A-201571-20. The motor driver
has a very large power supply mounted to a large heat sink. This is marked
by the identification plate to be for type M113 motors.

The Z axis and 4th , which was used on a rotary table, have 840 oz.in.
motors by SLO-SYN (type M112-FJ25C2) which are driven by Motor Drives #
A-201571-19. The power supplies look about the same as the others except
for the numbers and they are for SLO-SYN motors type M112.

All motors appear to be in good condition and are mounted to the lead
screws at a 1 to 1 drive ratio. The motors are 200 steps per rev which
will give me a step per .001". I Would like to end up using micro stepping
drivers, but it would be nice if I could save the power supply portions of
what I have.

I think I have all the parts I have in one place now, so I should be able
to answer any questions.

I have a nice pile of parts, but don't know where to go from here.

Any one want to tell me where to go!
