separate power supply casing

Hi,

Have been reading the posts with great interest. I am hoping to build
my own stepper motor driver, but as I want to be able to change power
supply easily, I am thinking of putting the motor driver and the
power supply in separate casing, and connect the power via a power
cable. Like to ask the veterans whether they think this is a good
idea.
