Use NEMA 34s in ratings of about 300-450 in/lbs. I'm running a Maximat
conversion with 450 and 600 (on vertical axis, which travels entire head),
2.5:1 reduction and 5mm pitch ball screws, and it's overkill. These will
easily shift stuff around that is bolted firmly down. Of course you should
use ball screws. Techno Isel has them in 16 mm PD that are very good and
relatively inexpensive. For example preload adjustable nuts are about $60
and the screw is commensurate.
