Depends on your application, if you need ball screws or not. I have a
similar sized mill, and I RFQ some places, and got quotes back for all
three axis. I was looking about $2,200 USD dollars for balls screws.

So if you don't NEED ball screws, I'd suggest placing them on hold.

Is anyone able to get ball screws for MUCH less?

Steppers are not my specialty, so I'll leave it at this.

Hi all,
Need a little help here. I have a small mill (3 HP, 24"x7" bed, 12"x6"
travel) and I am planning to convert it to CNC. Could someone guide me
on the selection of stepper motors for it. What torque should I be
looking for. Would it be ok if I use the existing lead screws or should
I change them to ball screws too.
